Sculpture

Most of Bob Fowler’s sculptures consisted of Cor-ten Steel.  He worked on a large scale in his private studio at his residence.  Many of his animal themed sculptures were commissioned, but he took a personal interest in sculpting animals and was rigorous and methodical in his research.  While he may be most known for his animal sculptures such as the Elephant at the entrance to the Houston zoo, he never stopped pushing the boundaries of his work, going so far as to explore kinetic sculpture and religious imagery.

Endangered Animal Jewelry

Bob Fowler created jewelry using the Lost Wax Method, which involves carving the initial shapes from wax.  Then from the wax figure, a mold is made, into which molten silver is poured to create the final piece of jewelry.  Fowler was contracted to do the Endangered Species Series by a marketing company.

  

All pieces are sterling silver and between 1" and 2".  Some pieces are also available in gold plate.  All of jewelry pieces shown are for sale.  Please use contact form on the contact page if you are interested in purchasing any of the pieces.

Etchings, Paintings and Mixed Media Prints

Fowler made etchings using copper plates and acid.  This was tedious work, and as his health declined, it became more difficult for him to make etchings.  As a result, he started to focus more on mixed media prints which were less physically demanding to produce.



Fowler painted primarily in acrylic.  As in his jewelry and sculpture, he was inspired by organic imagery, including trees, horses, bulls, birds etc.  His way of depicting these natural motifs ranged from naturalistic, to expressionistic.
